Installing uTorrent on Ubuntu

uTorrent is a closed source BitTorrent client owned by BitTorrent Inc. Below are the steps to install the same-

1. Download the latest stable release from utorrent’s site.

2. Extract the same tar xvzf utserver.tar.gz -C /opt/

3. Reset permission $ sudo chmod -R 777 /opt/utorrent-server-alpha-v3_3/

4. Link uTorrent server to the /user/bin directory sudo ln -s /opt/utorrent-server-alpha-v3_3/utserver /usr/bin/utserver

5. Start uTorrent server utserver -settingspath /opt/utorrent-server-alpha-v3_3/

The gui can be accessed from localhost, where the user is admin and password is empty.

I’ve kept another post to explain how to start uTorrent server automatically, once system is up.
