I use ACT broadband internet at my home. I am quite happy with their connection speed, stability and service. The only issue is I had to login manually via their portal page everyday. That is not a big deal till I am using a computer. But when instead of my computer at first; I try to access internet from my phone then I need to login to the portal from there and that’s the time I feel that pain. Entering that numeric userid and alpha-numeric password from a phone is not that cool.
To get rid of this process I tried few options in my router settings… and bingo! There is an option, super easy one to avoid this manual login process everyday.
Earlier I set Dynamic IP settings in router for my connection. It just required to be updated by PPPoE connection. The options, sequence may vary a little bit for different routers but the basic logic and step should be same. These are the steps I did to setup auto login to my ACT broadband portal using my TP-Link router.
1. Log out from portal at first.
2. Open home page of the router settings. Check the connection type. Default setting is Dynamic IP. Make sure that default setting is working.
3. Go to network and update "WAN Connection Type" to PPPoE and detect the connection.
4. Enter login details in "PPPoE Connection" details.
5. Keep "Connection Mode" to "Connect Automatically".
6. Connect and Save.
7. Reboot router from System tools.
8. Go to broadband login page e.g. ACT Portal's home page and it should show that login has been done automatically.
That’s all to say sayonara to ACT’s login Portal.

My Netgear N300 JWNR2000v2 is not behaving as expected. Despite selecting “always on” mode, it is not able to login many of the times.
I am really tired of “No internet” exclamation symbol. If I simply open the router page and say test connection, it starts working again.
Do you have any idea why this might be happening? Other users of BBNL are not facing this issue.

I guess it’s a configuration issue with your device, not the router rather. Otherwise, manual test connection would have failed too.

Any pointers, like what kind of config issue can I check?

It could be your OS or firewall or network configuration or the router configuration of the device. But not at the router end I think.

Its worked for me. But speed is reduced to 10mbps. Tried factory reset, Firmware update. Nothing help. If i directly plug the ACT cable to PC, i can get 75mbps speed.

I guess that’s a default per device data transfer limitation implemented at the router level. Double check the router config. If you don’t find any config level setting for the same, raise a ticket with your network provider.

Have not tried by myself. But the logic should work with all dynamic IP configurations.

This is not working on SITI cable net in Kolkata. I think the issue is because we are using Static IP. Any way to achieve the same functionality using static ip’s? I am using a TP-Link router.

Yep, the above solution is basically applicable for dynamic IP. Ideally, static IP configuration shouldn’t have this issue. Make sure what is the root cause of the issue.

The amount of time of inactivity before the router will disconnect is determined by this configuration. Setting this to 0 instructs it to connect infinitely. Dude, I followed all the steps. It’s working only in my PC. When I connect to the wifi network and try to open any webpage, it isn’t working. What am I missing in my mobile configuration?

If automatic re-connection failures only when you’re using mobile then the issue must be there. Else it would be reproduced when you’re using PC too. But it’s not that. So the issue lies with your mobile to wifi connectivity.
Clear cache, delete existing wifi connection from mobile and re-connect.
Now check your login status from the portal home page.
