Question: Why I’m writing this? Who will be interested to know how I spent a year?
Answer: Writing for myself, no one else. I have set up a target to review every year at the end of that year to prepare myself for the next year accordingly. It’s important to admit failures, learn from them, prioritise issues to fix ASAP; equally important is to celebrate the successful achievements. I’m quite desperate to get a better version of myself. Most of us have heard the old saying that- “…emotional, physical and mental changes that seem to occur in approximate seven-year intervals“. And these are the steps towards that. That’s the sole purpose of this post. Yeah, I know, kinda selfish, but that’s how the world is!
Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back everything is different?

Where I failed in 2017?
Ahh… long list, will mention the major ones-
Tried more than 4 times throughout the year to be precise. The longest successful period was almost 2 months. After that, I thought I can quit it anytime so let’s delay it for a small time.
Lesson learnt: Don’t promise infinite schedule. Set up a deadline for all the planned events. Otherwise, it’s not planned at all.
Do exercises on a regular basis
Learnt swimming. Yeah, better late than never. Was in the pool regularly for first 6 months. Then became irregular. Then completely stopped.
Lesson learnt: Get better in time management. There will be workload always. Eventually, it increases over the time. Learn how to manage the balance. Don’t find an excuse.
What made 2017 remarkable to me?
I’m glad to say this list is longer than above. Have achieved some serious stuff successfully which I was longing for last few years.
Got back my old reading habit
Till my teen age, I used to posses 2 almirah full of different books. But long back I’d stopped reading other than technical books, articles etc. In 2017 I’m back on the track again. Successfully finished more than 6 books which include – Connect the Dots, The Doors Of Perception, The Alchemist, Rich Dad Poor Dad, A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Phoenix Project. Right now have picked up Sapiens.
Getting expertise in Python
Long back I’d picked up Python but never put some dedicated time to get expertise in depth. Glad to put there some dedicated time this year. Have even shipped some great modules into the production. Learning more.
Was struggling to manage personal and professional time. But learnt that if I plan properly, schedule things then it can be handled. There will be unplanned work always like all the unprepared events in life but they can be handled too and that’s how one becomes mature. Off to Kerala now and this is the second long trips in this year.
Meisha’s first birthday
Oh, BTW, Didn’t I say that Meisha celebrated her first birthday this year? Growing up very fast.
Feeling much relaxed, confident and matured. A lot of things need to done and time literally flies. Looking forward to 2018.
